Fashion is Nuts
Instagram Art Star, Donald Drawbertson™ is nuts about fashion, and by nuts, we mean crazy, and by that, we really mean he thinks Fashion is Nuts, which is the title of his new project.
Water NYC and Donald Drawbertson™ are pleased to release a 40-page illustrated book and 10 posters, titled Fashion Is Nuts which features madly accurate walnut portraits of the fashion universe’s biggest creative stars. Fashion personalities such as Anna Wintour, Pharrell Williams, and Kanye West are all rendered in Drawbertson’s insanely great duct tape and bold paintstroke style. With photographs by renowned photographer Henry Leutwyler (also nuts), design by award winning design firm Water NYC (Ruba Abu-Nimah E. Renée Rogers) and production by k/c (Karl Cyprien), the book and posters have a limited run of 1000 copies and will be released on February 11th at www.fashionisnuts.com. A book signing will take place at Dashwood Books in NYC on February 13th. There will be a launch event at The Standard Shop - Highline on February 18th. During Paris Fashion Week, Colette will release zines and an edition of prints by Henry Leutwyler on March 2nd.
Donald Drawbertson™ is Donald Robertson, a Creative Director at Estée Lauder. Robertson launched his sketchy persona onto Instagram in 2013 where his fame exploded rapidly into a following of 116,000 followers and counting. This exposure lead to artwork partnerships with J. Crew, Smashbox Cosmetics, and Colette. Of his newest project, Robertson enthuses, “In a world ruled by focus groups and ten person creative committees, it gives me enormous pleasure to see an insane idea wheat pasted all over New York City! Fashion Is Nuts includes a limited edition 40-page book with a print run of 1,000 copies and will retail for $40. In addition, a limited edition run of 1,000 24"x35" posters of one of the following nuts: Grace Coddington, Karl Lagerfeld, A$AP Rocky, Kanye West, Hedi Slimane, Yves Saint Laurent, Gabrielle Chanel, Pharrell Williams, and Riccardo Tisci will retail for $60.
Drawbertson will sign 100 copies of the book that will retail for $100 and the posters for $150.
