Alice Waese at Hostem
Hostem invited designer Alice Waese to create a site-specific work in store for one week in October during Frieze.
Waese has created a floor to ceiling wall of tiny drawings, working on site to a complete two full- length cave paintings. This large-scale work is installed within Hostem’s upper floors. Once the work has been realized – different sections of the drawing will be hand torn by the artist and available to purchase.
Alice Waese is a jewelry and fashion designer based in New York, trained in both garment design and fine art. Her focus on drawing, sculpture, cloth and raw materials led her to debut a limited edition of unisex clothing in Paris in 2014.
Working with varying materials such as sterling silver, gold, natural leathers and yarns she produces sculptural pieces that exhibit the experimental artistry of her process. Her work is season-less and released in editions of 90.
